Today is December 16, 2014. At 57 years old, I am planning to travel solo around the world on a shoestring budget. This is DAY ONE of my commitment to make it happen within a year.
Please follow along as I figure out how to TRAVEL THE WORLD as a solo female. I know I can (and will!) do it, and if you want to, too, watch this space to learn as I learn!
Update: It is May 14, 2015. I am well on my way to liquidating my personal possessions. It feels unbelievably good, and easier than I thought, to see the symbols and stuff of the last many years find new homes. I am being very selective about what to keep, as I want only ten boxes to store when all is said and done.
I do not plan to return to my current home in southern Oregon. At this point, I plan to settle in Cuenca, Ecuador when I feel the need to stop traveling. Until then, the timing is open-ended. I am eager to make traveling a lifestyle, to stay on the road for as long as it feels good. Please follow my blog to see how things are going, and please, be in touch with me on the road!
Update: It is December 5, 2016. I have now been on the road for eleven months. I have been in Ecuador for two and a half months and have decided it is not to be my permanent home. In January 2017 I am heading to Thailand to stay for a while, but I also know I am not finished traveling. The vagabond life suits me just fine, and I will keep going as long as I am enjoying it.
